The Lowry Centre

Pier 8, Salford Quays M50 3AZ. The Lowry Centre is an arts venue located at the waterside designed in the 1990s with the mission to Enrich, Engage and Entertain. The stunning building is designed to look like a giant ship

Inside are exhibition space, restaurants, gift shops and two theatres. The Lowry Centre houses A permanent display of the best of LS Lowry and is the largest collection of his work in the world. He is best known for his scenes of industrial Salford, with matchstick figures scurrying to and from the mills. To compliment and contract with the LS Lowry Exhibitions, there is a range of temporary displays which vary almost monthly. Admission is free for the art exhibitions.

There are two theatres inside the building. The Quays which seats up to 466, and The Lyric The Lyric Theatre has 1,730 seats and the largest stage in the UK outside of London. Both Theatres showcase a range of productions from small not well known comedians to successful, worldwide theatre productions such as Wicked. The Lowry centre is just 10 minutes from Manchester City centre and only 20 mins from the Clayton Hotel Manchester Airport.

The box office counter is open from 10am – 6pm however tickets can be bought online and over the phone.

The Lowry Centre also offers fantastic galleries showcasing the best of LS Lowry’s work as well as other well known artists.
