It’s time to wrap up in your finest winter woollies, fill yourself with Christmas spirit and make the most of this year’s festivities at the Manchester Christmas Markets.
Courtesy of Manchester City Council, the Christmas markets will re-open on the 10th November 2017, for the 18th year in a row. Over the years, Manchester’s Christmas Markets have become one of the largest in the UK; attracting shoppers from across the country and beyond. With over 350 stalls located in 10 different spaces around the City Centre, 2017 is set to be the largest display of the event to date.
Albert Square is home to the main market hub, along with Manchester’s very own Father Christmas who overlooks the event each year from his perch at the front of the Town Hall. So well-known he even has his own twitter account, the 10 metre high, light up St Nick symbolises the beginning of the yuletide season for the city and he will remain in his seat until the New Year.
The award-winning markets have a lot to offer. From the delicious variety of international food and beverage such as Bratwurst, Spanish Paella and Gluhwein to the delicately designed, hand crafted gifts, there is something for everybody to enjoy amongst the festivities here in the vibrant city of Manchester. To top it off, you can find an outdoor, purpose built ice rink located on First Street. Welcoming all ages and ability of skaters, the ice rink offers the experience of a true winter wonderland, under the twinkling fairy lights in the heart of the city.
